Similar to the ultrasound machines used during pregnancy to view foetal development, real time ultrasound (RTUS) is imaging technology that allows our Physiotherapists to visualise view and measure how your muscles work during your assessments and treatment.

Depending on your situation, your Physiotherapist may use the RTUS machine to assist you to view and learn how to activate certain muscles on a computer screen at the time of your treatment to assist your rehabilitation. RTUS is often used with pelvic floor treatments and patients with low back pain to view pelvic floor and deep abdominal muscles.
